Monday the 20th of September we visited a water treatment plant where we saw the different treatments that are necessary to treat the water that is present in the sewers which consists in taking out the solid contents and purifying the water so that it can be returned to the rivers.
The first treatments consist in taking out the solid components that have been inserted into the sewers by separating them from the water that will eventually continue the process and go through the rest of the treatments.
The second treatment is the one that uses bacteria to continue the same process of taking out the unusable and impure contents that are still present in the water after the first treatment. And then the dead bacteria are taken out of the process and are reused as fertilizer.
During the third treatment (in the clarifiers) there's the possibility for algea to form and so they are eventually purified as well so they can also go back to the rivers.
After this the process is pretty much finished and the water can return to the rivers
